False alarms and important rules

FY2027 schedule lists $58 for alarms 4-5, $87 for alarms 6-7 and $115 for alarms 8+. This is the published city fee schedule; portal enforcement/payment was not tested.

Before you apply

Confirm the alarm address is inside city limits; postal city name or ZIP alone does not establish jurisdiction. Fire installation permits are separate from burglar-alarm user permits.

City names and ZIP codes are starting points. Confirm which agency serves the actual property address before submitting an application.

Frequently asked questions

No. The listed codes are 2020 Census ZCTA/place overlaps, not current USPS address validation. ZIP areas can cross city and county lines. Confirm the agency serving your actual street address before deciding which alarm rules apply.
The application calls for annual renewal. Check the current adopted fee schedule before paying, because fees change by fiscal year and the application’s printed fees are outdated.
The adopted FY2027 schedule lists $58 for alarms 4–5, $87 for alarms 6–7, and $115 for alarms 8 and later. Refer to the linked schedule for the published rules; portal enforcement and payment were not tested.
