Removing Tough Stains from Your Asphalt Pavement

So, what happens when your sidewalk gets stained with oil, paints, or vehicle fluids? How do you restore your pavement to its former glory? Find out below:

• The first step is to rinse the surface of the asphalt with a hose. Afterward, apply diluted vinegar or normal washing liquid to the stained surface. Allow the soap to sit on the stain for 20 to 30 minutes. A stiff brush to scrub the surface, some water to rinse off the soap, and that’s it, the stain is gone.
• If the stain is particularly stubborn, a few cans of Coca-Cola have been known to be effective. Let the drink soak into the stain overnight. On the next day, apply some soap, scrub a little, and the stain should be out.
• The steps above may not work for oil stains and vehicle fluids. However, there are some other tricks you can try. Find an absorbent material to soak up most of the fluids. Sawdust and gravel are some good options.
• Leave the material on the stain overnight for optimum effect. The next morning, wash the absorbent off and use a stiff brush to clean the surface of the pavement. That’s all.
